ELE Set
I've been getting a lot of questions about elemental sets recently, so I've decided to post what information I have and what set I am currently using as a guideline for others who are interested. Which should be everyone, especially casters.
1. WHY: Elemental sets make the elementals you run around with massive warrior mobs, meleeing 5x per round with 2800hp. While a second player is always better, having an elemental with a set makes many small-form zones soloable. They can also be used in lieu of a tank when running zones.
2. PRICE: Elemental sets are not expensive, as they are not max EQ. No one in their right mind will be eqipping their elemental with max vemyrs. Not only is it a complete waste of max eq, but most elemental EQ pieces are BETTER than max eq for players. Why? Strength. EXAMPLE: Max nemesis is 6dr. Max aitrillia ring is 3hr/6dr to an elemental. Most other pieces follow suit. Elemental sets can be time consuming to put together and create, but they are not expensive. Most pieces I use I popped myself solo OR were easily attained with a small form OR were reject pieces (not max) OR detted base rotting on storage.
3. BASICS TO ELEM EQ: There are three main statistics of importance for an elemental. STRENGTH, DEXTERITY and DAMROLL.
STRENGTH allows the elemental to continue wielding its big heavey weapon without dropping it, and more importantly adds both HITROLL and DAMROLL for every point. While players are capped at 18 strength, elementals are not. The implications of this are obvious: you can stack as much strength on an elemental as you want, greatly increasing its' HR and DR. As an added bonus, strength eq is far easier to aquire than high DR pieces.
DEXTERITY seems like an odd statistic to be important on elemental EQ, but it is. Players simply take it for granted that all players have 18 dexterity and we don't really think about how important it is a statistic. Most importantly, it increases the success chance of all thief skills, especially DODGE. An elemental with high dexterity and perfect AC will be taking a hell of a lot less damage. Example: Everyone remember Angelicus from Vatos? That irritating warrior mob who pulverizes through sanc and hits you a good 5 times a round at least? An elemental with a good elemental set can ice angelicus from full to dead without elem going below 70% health, without healing. Anyone who has been meleed by angelicus, knows what that means.
DAMROLL is pretty self explanatory. Each point directly increases the amount of damage done per hit. The hint here is to look for pieces that give strength AND damroll, as they will be the most important pieces of your elemental set. Example: a bracer of godlike power gives 4dr and 4 strength, making the wrist 4hr/8dr. Tyssa skin gives 4dr and 2str making 2hr/6dr about. Aitrillia rings give 3dr and 3strength, making them 3hr/6dr rings. The list goes on.
GUIDELINE:
Any DR heavy light will do here, I use a base pink orb.
Aitrilla's ring - Lev(16) Loc(fing) NoBits str(3) dr(3) Gloumewood, on Aitrillia
Aitrilla's ring - Lev(15) Loc(fing) NoBits str(3) dr(3) Gloumewood, on Aitrillia
a raven totem necklace - Lev(23) Loc(neck) AC AC dr(4) str(3) Hives, on Honey Thief (Elnissa pewter medallions work as well, 5dr/2str)
a raven totem necklace - Lev(25) Loc(neck) AC AC dr(4) str(3) Hives, on Honey Thief (Elnissa pewter medallions work as well, 5dr/2str)
black armor of the gorgon - Lev(16) Loc(body about) AC-ap(10) AG str(3) hr(5) Derah, on Gorgon (Hitroll is not a critical stat for an elemental, but it helps. )
the torturer's hood - Lev(21) Loc(head) AM AC AG AM AC str(4) dex(4) Reclasta, on torturer dude (nothing really comparable to this)
an onyx pair of metal-plated boots - Lev(29) Loc(feet) AM AC AW AC-ap(8) AG hr(7) armor(-18) Demonforge, on kanch. (Boots of stealth from strider 3dr/2dex work well, but these give huge AC bonus)
the gloves of Doom - Lev(25) Loc(hands) AC-ap(2) AG AN int(-3) dr(6) Thanos, Dark strider (griffin claws 5dr/+1str even better, but theres a few high dr hand pieces, agony claws, silver dragon claws, all work)
black leg plates - Lev(21) Loc(legs) AC-ap(9) NoBits str(2) dr(3) Bloodstone, animated armor (Demonforge elite leggings work 5dr work as well)
striped green sleeves made from caterpillar skin - Lev(27) Loc(arms) AG AE hr(2) dr(6) E'ur, comp EQ (max is 3/6 but don't waste max on elem eq. Get a base pair, 2/5 they're cheap as shit)
Tyssa's skin - Lev(16) Loc(about) NoBits dr(4) str(2) ss(0) Gloumewood, Tyssa (anything DR oriented, but these are the best by far, easy to pop too)
a frayed sash - Lev(28) Loc(waist) AM AC AC-ap(4) NoBits dr(3) str(1) Reef, Ranaldo (Any dr belt will do, black onyx from zuldahun or adamanatite from berkovic, but this is best)
a black leather collar, with a large emerald hanging from it - Lev(8) Loc(neck wrist) AW dex(4) dr(4) Cant remember for the life of me where this is from (It's awesome, but there's lots that can be used for wrist, most commonly adamanatite wrist sheaths from Verigaard commander 5dr notweak)
a bracer of godlike power - Lev(27) Loc(wrist) NoBits dr(4) str(4) Tharhalas, Melkan (again, lots you can use here, these are by far the best)
a massive war axe - Lev(27) Loc(wield) AM AC AT 2H 10d7 AG dr(7) hr(5) Cond(good - 119 Days) Demonforge, Elites (Frostreaver comes in a close second, but these are better and easier to pop. Most blackstone/dhaul runs will pop at least one, the hr/dr isn't really important, just ask formleader for one)
the ruby of Destruction - Lev(26) Loc(hold) NoBits dr(9) hps(-43) Cond(pristine - Infinity Days) Thanos, Thanos (Ruby proc doesn't proc on elementals, making these better than orcus or alps gem. That being said, on a mob with 2800 hp, an extra -50 hp doesnt mean much)
FEW REMINDERS:
1. If you get handsed and elem poofs, the EQ is FREE GAME, meaning ANYONE can pick it up, you have NO OWNERSHIP of the items.
2. If someone ices your elemental the EQ BELONGS TO THEM, NOT TO YOU. So if someone hands you and ices them elemental before it poofs, everything in that corpse BELONGS TO THEM.
3. If a mob ices your elemental the EQ IS FREE GAME. You do NOT have any ownership to it, ANYONE can loot.
4. THERE IS NO REIMBURSEMENT if the game crashes or the zone resets while you're inside with elemental. All equipment is lost, and there will be NO REIMBURSEMENT. You have been warned.
IN BRIEF: The second you give EQ to an elemental, it is free game. This includes NPK, LPK or CPK. If your elem in LPK times out and poofs and someone else picks the EQ off the ground, IT IS THEIR EQ, REGARDLESS OF PK TYPE. This goes both ways. If you see someone running a zone with an elemental, FIRST THING YOU DO, look at the elem, if it has anything, hands it and ice it, if it poofs spam get all. Be aware. Anytime you see someone with an elemental, look at it first before you begin stabbing or engaging the player. You'll never know what you might find, and it makes the bank all the worse for them.
Any questions let me know. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND all casters to begin investing and building up an elemental set. I can tell you from experience they are one of the most valuable things you can invest in. They're cheap and they increase your firepower exponentially enabling you to run a ton of shit you otherwise wouldn't have a shot in hell of. Good luck.
Thanks,
-Noel
